Our Story
Born from Community, Inspired by Women
The International Women's Day Marathon was founded by a small group of Denton runners who dreamed of a race that celebrated women's strength and solidarity. As the idea took shape in the months leading up to the inaugural March 18, 2028 event, the founders set out to create more than a race day, they wanted a lasting gathering point for women across North Texas.
Held each year on International Women's Day, the marathon honors the values of solidarity, empowerment, and shared achievement. It stands apart in the Denton running scene as an event built by and for women, welcoming every pace and every story to the starting line.
